JOB TITLE: SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR
LOCATION: HEAD OFFICE
RESPONSIBLE TO: IT MANAGER
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To assist the IT Manager in administering Company Information Technology (IT) resources.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. To assist the IT Manager in establishing, maintaining and developing appropriate procedures relating to the acquisition, operation and upkeep of Company IT equipment and software, including telephone systems.
2. To monitor and maintain currency with developments and reported problems within the world of IT.
3. To set up and maintain user profiles.
4. To manage daily back ups and anti-virus suites.
5. To monitor the Company's wide and local area networks and to provide direct technical support for staff across the Company in respect of computer and operating system problems, including applications packages.
6. To deliver and install new equipment to the depots as instructed by the IT Manager.
7. Assist the IT Manager to promote best practice including the installation and use of virus protection, passwords and the safeguarding of sensitive information, as well as monitoring for misuse of systems and principles.
8. To deliver appropriate staff training in relation to Information Technology both internal and external (e.g. CAB Transit System).
9. To undertake other IT and general administrative duties in support of Company policies and objectives, that may be required from time to time.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
The post holder must have:
1. Hold or be working towards achieving MCSE qualification and appropriate Networking Qualifications e.g. CISCO, CCNA.
2. Sound understanding and experience in the use of IT operating systems.
3. Well-developed general IT skills and knowledge in terms of current mainstream software applications packages and windows based operating systems.
4. Have experience of the installation of new hardware and software as well as upgrading existing systems and associated software packages.
5. Strong administrative and time management skills, particularly in respect of self-directed planning and working, with a flexible attitude to working hours and arrangements.
6. Well-developed interpersonal, communication and report-writing skills combined with a determined but tactful approach.
7. A positive approach to customer service, whether internal or external.
8. Sound interpersonal skills and a well-balanced approach to working with people.
9. A strong sense of teamwork and a willingness to support and assist other Head Office staff.
10. Have a full valid UK Driving Licence and ownership of / access to a car.
11. Well-developed inter-personal and communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain rapport with Company Staff and external organisations.
12. A positive approach to his / her own development.
The role will involve being on call for emergencies during depot opening hours (7am - 11pm) 7days per week, 365 days per year. This will usually be to provide remote systems advise but may occasionally involve visiting the depots out of hours. Flexibility is essential.
